The yips, slumps, injury comebacks, competition anxiety, and the mental blocks that training alone cannot fix.
Brainspotting · Performance Optimization
You have the talent, the training, and the drive — but something keeps getting in the way. Brainspotting helps athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs process the stored stress and fear behind performance blocks, so instinct, creativity, and confidence can flow again. I am Anne-Marie Hosler, a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee trained in Brainspotting Phase 1 and Phase 2, working in person in Redding and by telehealth across California.
The yips, slumps, injury comebacks, competition anxiety, and the mental blocks that training alone cannot fix.
Creative blocks, stage fright, auditions, and the self-criticism that silences your best work.
Burnout, imposter feelings, decision fatigue, and losing the spark that made you start.

Most performance problems are not skill problems. They are nervous-system problems — and that is exactly where Brainspotting works.
A body that tightens or freezes at the exact moment you need it most.
Skills that disappear under pressure, even though they are there in practice.
Invisible ceilings that keep you playing smaller than your ability.
Running on empty in a career or calling that used to light you up.
An inner critic so loud it drowns out instinct and joy.
Injuries, failures, or humiliations your nervous system has not let go of.
Talking about a block rarely removes it, because blocks do not live in the thinking brain. Brainspotting uses eye position to reach the deeper brain-body systems where pressure responses, old failures, and stored tension are held — and helps them release.
The work is quiet, focused, and surprisingly efficient. Many clients notice shifts in how their body responds under pressure within a handful of sessions — and deeper, more lasting change with continued work or a multi-hour intensive.
Much of my performance work is with women who lead — founders, executives, and creatives who look successful on paper but feel burned out, disconnected, or like they have lost their spark. This is a space to put the armor down and rebuild from the inside.
More about my work with womenPerformance blocks are often held in the same deep brain and body systems as trauma. Brainspotting accesses and processes the stored stress, fear, or past experiences behind a block, so your natural ability can come back online.
This is therapy. We work within a clinical framework, and performance goals are explored alongside the emotional patterns underneath them. That depth is what makes the changes hold.
If you perform under pressure in any arena — business, leadership, public speaking, exams — and something keeps getting in your way, this work can help.
Yes. Brainspotting adapts well to secure video, so you can do this work from anywhere in California — including between travel, training, or tour schedules.
Yes. Multi-hour intensives are a strong fit for performance work — for example, preparing for a season, a launch, or a performance. We discuss format and goals before scheduling.
Coverage depends on your plan and on medical necessity. Many performance concerns overlap with anxiety and stress, which are often covered. We recommend confirming benefits with your plan before beginning.
