Understanding neurofeedback
What is BrainPaint?
BrainPaint is a neurofeedback system that uses sensors to measure brain activity and provide real-time feedback through a computer. The sensors record activity; they do not send electricity into the brain.
My background includes neurofeedback certification. Together we discuss your goals, relevant health history, and whether this approach is appropriate for you. Neurofeedback may be considered alongside therapy; it is not a substitute for needed medical care.
Your sessions
What to expect
- Talk it through. We start with your questions and what you hope to work on. Before scheduling, we discuss whether it is a good fit, what sessions involve, and the cost.
- Meet in Redding. Sessions use BrainPaint equipment in person, with time to get settled and understand the process.
- Check in. We review your experience and adjust the plan as appropriate. Responses vary, and specific results are not guaranteed.
Why people try it
Areas people explore with neurofeedback
Neurofeedback has been studied and used in practice across a wide range of concerns. People explore it for the concerns below, but these are not promises of results. Responses vary from person to person, and we will talk honestly about whether it is a reasonable fit for you.
Attention & focus
Attention concerns such as ADD and ADHD are among the most studied uses of neurofeedback, because changes in focus can be observed and measured.
Anxiety & stress
We can discuss anxiety, ongoing worry, or feeling on edge, and whether neurofeedback could be an option alongside your other support.
Mood
Many people explore neurofeedback alongside therapy when low mood or emotional flatness has been difficult to shift.
Sleep
Restless nights and difficulty winding down are common reasons people seek brain-training approaches.
Trauma & PTSD
Neurofeedback is often used as a complement to trauma therapy, supporting regulation while deeper work unfolds.
Peak performance
Athletes, artists, and professionals use neurofeedback to explore sharper focus, steadier nerves, and clearer access to their abilities.
Headaches & chronic pain
Some people explore neurofeedback for migraines, chronic pain, and fibromyalgia, typically alongside medical care.
Recovery support
Some treatment centers use neurofeedback alongside addiction recovery care to address concerns such as anxiety or attention. It does not replace a recovery plan or medical support.
Brain fog & injury
Cognitive changes after concussion, anesthesia, or chemotherapy are an emerging area where people report exploring neurofeedback.
Neurofeedback is not a medical treatment or a substitute for medical care, and specific outcomes are never guaranteed. If your concerns involve a medical condition, we will encourage you to involve your physician.

About the Redding officeBrainPaint questions
Where is BrainPaint available?
BrainPaint neurofeedback is currently offered in person at Attune Center for Healing in Redding only. It is not available by telehealth or at the McCloud location, where in-office appointments are coming soon.
Is neurofeedback the same as Brainspotting?
No. Neurofeedback uses sensors and computer-guided feedback from brain activity. Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that uses eye position and focused attention. We can discuss which approach fits your goals.
How many sessions will I need?
Session format, frequency, and duration are discussed before scheduling and reviewed as we go. There is no promised number of sessions or guaranteed outcome.
Does insurance cover neurofeedback?
